“The Facilitator’s main task is to help the group increase effectiveness
by improving its process and structure”
Roger Schwarz, The Skilled Facilitator, published by Jossey Bass Professional Learning
Facilitation is the process of harnessing the knowledge of the participants while managing participant behaviour to accomplish a set of pre-defined objectives.
If in a learning environment, facilitation is the act of engaging participants in creating, discovering, and applying learning insights.
Facilitation usually involves a “guide on the side” who asks questions, moderates discussions, introduces activities, and helps participants contribute to the discussion.
I use an array of tools and techniques to get the very best out of group and flex my style based on the group dynamics in the moment.
